I always have this perfect plan in my head on how I feel my Mother’s Day should go. Wouldn’t you know that for the 3rd year in a row there was another hiccup in my plan. I think we as Mom’s always want this day to feel so special and go some sort of way but it never ends up the way we would like for it to go. With that being said those little hiccups are what makes the day so special to me. It reminds me that life with kids are filled with hiccups that my plan is not always the BEST plan. That I need to remember who is really in control EVERYDAY and that is God.
I truly love Mother’s Day and what it represents. Mine doesn’t have to be filled with gifts of jewelry or flowers, I truly just want this day to be filled with love and laughter from my husband and kids. I decided this year that I wanted my Mother’s Day to be spent making memories with my kiddos and hubby. I decided last minute that we should all head to the park to have a bit of fun. Well wouldn’t you know that after five minutes my husband’s eyes began to swell and turn red. He could not stop sneezing and ended up having to go sit in the car. Then I though it was smart to take two kids away from the outdoors and into the four walls of Hobby Lobby. (really bad idea) Did I mention they had not had any naps for the day. I wanted us to pick out some gifts for the grandmas and great grandmas. This visit ended with two kids screaming because one wanted a stuffed animal that she already had at home while the other wanted a ball which we have 50 of at home and even 1 in the car. I ended up picking up one kid and just walking out all while leaving my husband with Brynlee who is stubborn and strong willed.
I have to say the night ended very well with a wonderful dinner at Ida Claire’s, sitting outside on the patio with wine in hand and chicken and waffles. So did my Mother’s Day go as planned, NO but to me it went much better than I could ever have hoped because I made many memories with my crazy family and that is all I wanted in the end.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day. To all of you wonderful and beautiful Mom’s out there you are strong, beautiful, and everything your kids need.
Here are a few shots from our night at Ida Claire’s.
