I have always, always loved photography. For as long as I can remember I have loved taking photos. I remember getting disposable cameras or film for my Grandma’s camera and going nuts taking photos of whatever caught my eye that day, then taking it up to Eckerds/Walgreens/CVS/whateverthenewnameisnow to get it developed. I always chose 1 hour prints because I’m pretty impatient. I would run upstairs once I got home and one by one analyze each photo….how could I have made this more interesting? How could I get that “pretty light” in all my photos? What could I do to improve the overall composition?
Fast forward to almost 4 years ago when I had my first daughter. My Mother-In-Law brought me a Nikon DSLR that she had been given and told me I could use it. My first DSLR – I was thrilled! I immediately started researching how to take the best photos I could and learning how to shoot in Manual. It seriously changed my life! I never really thought I would turn it into a business but after much support from my hubby, I took the leap in the fall of 2014. I am so glad I didn’t let the fear of failing overshadow where I wanted to go. I am so blessed with the most amazing and supportive clients who have become such great friends. I absolutely LOVE watching these sweet babies grow up in front of my camera. It makes my heart so happy!
My goal of every session though is to capture your family, your child, in that exact moment…exactly how they are. I love to capture emotion and you just can’t get that kind of rawness when everyone looks at the camera and smiles. Give me all the candid shots! 😉
My husband has always called me a boho-rocker and I think he’s right! I love all things flowy, lots of layers, anything from Free People, black & studded, is that girl homeless? haha! I feel like I’ve finally come into my own in terms of style and becoming more consistent with my daily styling. Now that doesn’t mean I won’t be wearing workout clothes at MDO drop off but I’ll try to punch it up with some funky sneakers and do an upside down braid under my top knot.
I absolutely LOVE the summer and all things cut off denim & tanks, but the fall is when I can layer an obscene amount of clothes/scarves and I won’t melt. Also, the fall means the best thing…..BOOTIES!!! Gosh I love booties. I have tall boots too, but 9 out of 10 times I’m going with a bootie. I really love a cozy style when it gets cold, but with a twist. I won’t wear a cable knit sweater, but a cable-knit-off-the-shoulder-sweater that you can’t tell if it’s a top or a dress? YES PLEASE! Of course I love all things plaid, distressed and thermal too.
I can usually be found in distressed denim, a Free People trapeze slip, plaid shirt tied at the waist and my New Balance sneaks or tan booties. On repeat 😉
Of course on this day it was super rainy and I actually pulled out my tall boots (shocker!). But as much as I love a bootie, I hate wet feet. I have a need to be comfortable in whatever I wear because with my kids and my husband & I’s spontaneity, you never know where the day will lead. Which of course is something I absolutely love 😉 This particular day Kai *needed* to go to Super Target. Which for us is an hour away lol But who can say “no” to Super Target?!
I love clothes that I can wear out or be lazy on the couch and this next outfit is perfect for that.
